Focus on microscopy

FOM2025 continues a long-standing (since 1988), yearly conference series on the latest innovations and developments in (optical) microscopy and their application in biology, medicine, and the material sciences.

The conference will start on Sunday, April 13 with tutorials, followed by parallel sessions, Flash poster presentations and a plenary opening session with invited speakers at the end of the afternoon. The tentative program will be available later this year, and can be found under “Program” on this web site.

BIOMERO hackaton

The NVVM hackaton series is an initiative aimed at experienced BioImage Analysts, to promote interactions and exchange knowledge on a specific topic. We will sit down for a complete day with a small group (~10 people) and dive deep into the matter, focusing on discussing and improving analysis pipelines, coding, implementation, etc.

BIOMERO 101 Workshop

Date: April 7th, 2025
Location: Amsterdam UMC (AMC)
Organizers: Torec Luik (Amsterdam UMC) & Maarten Paul (LUMC)
Questionst.t.luik@amsterdamumc.nlm.w.paul@lumc.nl

This session is aimed at bioimage analysts and departmental data experts interested in exploring BIOMERO, OMERO-based framework designed to simplify the execution of compute-heavy bioimage analysis workflows.

BIOMERO streamlines running complex, FAIR-packaged analyses on HPC environments, making advanced microscopy data analysis more accessible.

This hackathon will be the first hands-on opportunity to work with BIOMERO, promoting collaboration on topics like integrating external workflow systems, handling complex imaging formats, and improving metadata management.

BIOMERO is part of the NL-BioImaging Data Management and Analysis (DM/DA) infrastructure, supporting nationwide cooperation and standardization of imaging workflows across the Netherlands’ microscopy community.
